Tonight I made scones at home to go with my tea. I used
this recipe. The only change I made was to omit the salt since I used salted butter. They turned out great and if I had cut them into circles or added sultanas they would have been very much like the ones we had when we went to a tea house. The jam I used I had made and canned about 2 weeks ago. It is
strawberry kiwi jam and it is oh so delicious.
I need to learn to grocery shop like you. My husband is convinced we can't do it for less than $15.00 a day. What are your tricks? We buy organic and our store does not do very many coupons. I either need to buy bulk, join a food buying club or get very creative with meal planning. You have inspired me to try lavender, lemon and honey in my next batch of scones Thanks for the visit and comment.

I am still battling my grocery shopping budget here. I have been incorporating more organics but I do not buy meat in organic unless I can find it out on the economy as they dont sell organic meat or produce on the base. Off base the stores have good quality organics at reasonable prices. My biggest thing is avoiding all HFCS. I would like to cut other "bad" things but haven't made that step yet. I find for me I can find some organics online cheaper and when we get back stateside that will be an option again. I like to buy in bulk when possible.
ReplyDeleteAnd the scones, YUM. I made some with dried cranberries the other day and they were delicious. I will have to experiment with other things as well.
